It occurs every year, but the holiday season always seems to creep up on me, then rises with great intensity to a crescendo that culminates on New Year’s Eve. Everything happens at once. Family and friends gather together, there are parties to host and attend, decorating, overeating, shopping for those special gifts. All this saved for the last couple of months of the calendar while the rest of the year, in comparison, is napping, sun-bathing, relaxing….lying in wait.
I feel a much greater sense of finality to the end of this year, but also more anticipation for the next one. Amidst all the holiday frenzy and festivities we are frantically preparing to leave family, friends, and home for six months. We feel a special need for one last visit, one last evening together, one last time…before we leave. And, the tragic news of the accident on board our ship casts a dark shadow and reminds us even more of life and mortality, despair and hope, beginning and end.
So, as we prepare for the end of this year and the beginning of the new one, I am feeling very stressed….but so blessed.
Happy Holidays to All!
Finally got my IT hat on straight. Sorry about your possible plan disruption. Keep us posted on the repair status and if the tour schedule changes. Happy Holidays.
Wonderful comments, Kristy!! Keep writing to keep everyone informed
You write so beautifully Kristy! Very sad to hear about what happened on the ship. Do you know yet if this will affect your departure?
We don’t yet know if our departure is affected, but Insignia will be taken to dry dock for repairs and we should be getting an update around mid-next week.
