We just received our final travel documents…again. We still have the documents from the original six-month version of our trip that were already in the mail at the time it was cancelled. This new official document is actually more of a book, about 120 pages spiral bound. It is the bible for our cruise, tailored specifically for our personal booking and includes all the proverbial fine print, reservation confirmations, and details of the ship’s amenities. So, this is the last chance to preview the culmination of all our pre-planning. Though there is no backing out now, at least from our side.
These documents also confirm what our friend Jan informed us of earlier. That we will travel halfway around the world to meet someone from our own backyard. I love it. Among the senior officers on board, our Cruise Director is in fact Andy Heath, local Kansas City former financial adviser for Jan. In his new job capacity onboard, we will see and hear a lot from him during the trip. The Cruise Director touches almost everything and seems to be everywhere at all times, the Ricardo Montalban of our floating fantasy island. Among the many facets of the job, his voice will greet us each morning, announce “BINGO!” for those who indulge, and direct the herds to their appropriate port excursion. Jan also revealed that Andy’s wife, Tammy, is the Social Director for our cruise. We’ll try to keep her busy, too.
With these documents now in hand, I have the confidence to begin my packing in earnest…again. My piles have taken over the guest bedroom to be edited and organized into their respective luggage. One to ship to Singapore on March 11, one to check with my flight on March 16, and one to carryon. You can even see the carefully chosen color scheme that is developing to keep things universally interchangeable and maximize the clothing outfit options. My travel palette, if you will. Ideally, I could choose my travel clothes blindfolded and trust that everything will coordinate in a multitude of ways. The downside is that, it will look like my trip only lasted a few days because I’ll appear to be wearing the same thing in all the photographs.
Get used to it.
Looking forward to the pictures! I doubt with the extreme change of scenery many will notice if outfits repeat. Unless ofcourse Stacey and Clinton are followers.
You are one smart girl with so much restraint! Maybe one day when I grow up. Tehe
However good my intentions were, it turned out I exercised very little restraint after all.
Love the pictures:)
