The International Date Line is an imaginary line on the surface of the Earth from the north to the south pole and demarcates the change of one calendar day to the next. It runs roughly along the 180th longitude in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, occasionally zig-zagging to avoid splitting apart countries into two days. It is an interesting phenomenon to grasp, but the reality was we were going to have May 28 occur twice in our life consecutively on this cruise, and figured that was a good enough reason to celebrate.
Our recent wine buying frenzy in Australia and New Zealand resulted in a considerable addition to our “cellar”, along with some local cheeses and sausages. We invited five couples to join us in our suite for a wine and cheese tasting to share the spoils, then on to dinner together in the Grand Dining Room and the Horizons Lounge for dancing after.
As our friend, Deanna, said, “I think we can all agree that a lot of “Lines” were crossed that night.”
Loved the pictures of you and Deano! When John and I went to Fiji there was a ceremony on the plane for each of the couples when we crossed the International Dateline. It is indeed a very momentous occasion..Welcome to the club!!! Love your blog – your fabulous writing makes us feel that we are there with you!
Pretty neat. Looks like everyone enjoyed it.
Terrific pictures, Kristy!!!! Well, I am sure that May 28th felt like a pretty long day!!!!:)
Deanna took the pictures, except the one of all of us in the GDR, taken by our waiter.
